This record is the perfect compliment to the Menina Brasileira release which is also on Ovum. El Gallo Negro steals the show. Its just a perfect deep house record. The only 2 records that Loco Dice ever made that have this vibe. Freakin' awesome man!

Couldn't agree more with the previous comment - I've always had a soft spot for El Gallo Negro, and after blasting it out tonight it just reaffirms how spectacular and time-defying it really is, 9 years since its release (7 years since the last comment). Absolutely ace. It's like some early Border Community releases or Pantha du Prince or Lawrence stuff - excellent understated techno
El Gallo Negro (The Black Rooster) is without doubt Loco Dice’s most overlooked hidden gem!
It is a track that really catches the ear, built around a skippy percussion pattern, kick and snare, with a hypnotic synth line that creates a tension as the groove builds. It both manages to sound spacious and airy while containing plenty of movement and has a fat filtered bassline to die for!
This is a perfect warm up track for the big room or a great peak time track for deep sets and the after hours.
When i play the vinyl on a decent soundsystem the bass makes my hair stand on end!
