Reviews
- Great set. Some of the CDs actually go over Red Book standards and are over 80 mins in length. Had no issues Ripping them. Highly usual.
- Edited 9 years agoAT LAST! A new Masters at Work compilation worth the cover price for collectors. Of course any MAW compilation is welcome, to introduce to them to a new audience, but old fans like myself always inevitably end up viewing any new compilations as a missed opportunity. My heart sunk a bit at the Vol. 1 as there was at least 3 CDs worth of stuff that any self-respecting collector would have (and most of it at least 3 times over) but the inclusion of a few dubs and the extended version of Lean On Me made me part with my hard earned.
After seeing the tracklisting on this, it's obvious the boys did some proper research and have included nearly 2 CDs worth of mixes that are extremely hard to find on CD unmixed. It's obvious that tight-ass Defected (read Simon Dunmore) leaned heavily on the boys to keep it commercial on Vol.1 but the upside of that was a compilation successful enough to warrant a second volume so all is forgiven.
Particular highlights are Bad Mood by Lonnie Gordon- great to hear MK vocal cuts-up (nobody does it like him) over a New York groove, the full length version of Our Time Is Coming (why was that album mostly edits? Don't you just hate Majors?) with Roy Ayers, Brand New Dance (finally!) and full-length remixes of Disco-era classics.
Finally! OUR (collectors) TIME HAS COME!
