Reviews
- There seem to have been two metal work sets used for this pressing. One with the Sterling DMM plates (variant 1 on both side), the other with DMM but not the Sterling plates (variants 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10). These two matrix sets should be separated, maybe even in 3 different releases as there are some hybrids (variants 3 and 8).
- Edited one year agoin my opinion the B side sounds better than the A side but in general its a fantastic album! after all these years it doesn't lost its magic!
- This is a very good album by Iron Maiden and probable one of the best they made. Production is very good and this pressing is an DMM (Direct Metal Mastering). Iron Maiden has been using DMM for years and it works well for dem. The sound is fresh and very crisp in the top with lot of information.
- I was looking forward to this pressing, but I have to say that I was shocked when I heard how weak it was. No punch (apart from Steve's bass), quite muddy, and overall weak sound. I'm not suggesting that it's one of the worst pressings I own, I just expected more from an 80's Maiden edition. My 2014 pressing of the first album absolutely destroys this one.
- Paid about €6 for this when it came out in 1986, and bought another which is NM- both cover and vinyl for about €10 in 2020.
This 1986 pressing is loud and uncompressed. Shows +7db, opposed to the 2014/2015 remaster at 0db.
