My copy is a promo that says Compliments of image and includes a questionnaire that you had to fill out and send back to Image Consultants in LA. Also included is a stapled printout of an article by Bill Flanagan.

I have had the cd since 1988 and only picked this up on vinyl a couple years ago. Is the song "Why Worry" longer on the cd where the drums come back in and on the vinyl release they had to edit that for time on side 1? that is what I seem to remember. 5:22 is what the LP version shows while the CD version does show over 8 mins for that song....they had to cut it somewhere.....one more reason for the quick abandonment of the vinyl format by the late 80s.

I highly recommend adding this to your collection as it usually not crazy priced. An important side note- Brothers in Arms is the first album to sell over 1 million copies in the CD format. Also won the Grammy for best engineered album in 1986, so yes it sounds really good IMO.

My copy plays more like a 4.5-4.6. Some surface noise but it came out when i was 5. I enjoy it!

Crazy how good this RL pressing sounds. It sounds so good that one might think this was an audiophile pressing from the start, but it's a regular release. One of the best sounding records I've heard.

This vinyl sounds terrible, because it is digitally remastered.

              It is very compressed.

RL really went all out on this album, one of the best sounding records in my collection.

amazing soundstage dynamics and separation of instrumentation if it did not cut tracks short i would say this would be my go to pressing however i also own the mofi 2x45 lp which is just as good or better and has full length tracks but does not mean this is a slouch by no means id say if you want a good sounding inexpensive press of this this would definitely be the 1 to grab!!!!!!!!

Brilliant sound in this pressing of Brothers in Arms. Especially the mastering and audio balancing on Walk of Life, you can really hear everything with a huge sound and clarity, I don't even know how to describe it. Pick one of these up in good shape, you won't regret it. One of the best sounding albums I own.

Although initial reviews of Brothers in Arms were negative, the album is Dire Straits magnum opus. The album was one of the first albums recorded on a Sony 24-track digital tape machine, which came from Knopfler's desire for the best possible sound quality, and was one of the first albums specifically marketed to the new CD market. And it worked with the album winning the Grammy for Best Engineered Album in 1986. The guitar sound in particular is owed in part to a "happy accident" where a microphone was unintentionally pointed down at the floor. There is also the famous "woman tone" of Knopfler's Les Paul on Money For Nothing, which is instantly recognizable, as is the song's video. The use of Brothers in Arms in Miami Vice is also timeless. This record sounds wonderful. Full and with plenty of punch together with masterful instrument separation and a lively soundscape. The reissues do not hold a candle to this one. If you are looking to add this album to your collection, pick up a used copy from the original release period, and you will be very happy.
