Reviews
- Edited 8 years agoPeople who enjoy this work should note that the audio in most of these songs were cut and editted by Brett Morgan to sound the way they do. For example in "The Yodel Song" you will hear a sound of someone hitting a bong, this is not from the same tape that the Yodel Song is in, and was not added by Kurt. The bong hit sound is from the Skid Row Rehearsal Demo tape of 1987 (They called themselves Skid Row before Nirvana).
You can also hear noises found in the Fecal Matter demo tape in certain spots in this release.
These songs come off as if they are uncut and from raw original sources. They are in fact, not.
For that reason, I give this release a low rating.
It is a simple cash grab filled with unfinished work featuring Kurt Cobain making farting noises.
It's not really complimentary and is a scattered table of unfinished work sourced from several recordings in Kurt's tapes.
No dates are given for these recordings so putting an accurate date on each track is almost impossible.
We all know that Kurt did not write Do-Rei-Mi while living with his girlfriend, Tracy Mirander in 1987, and that it was written in late 1993 early 1994 prior to Kurt's demise.
However most of these recordings are from the before-mentioned period of Olympia 1987.
Sappy first appeared on Outcesticide: In Memory of Kurt Cobain, a bootleg released back in 1994 and Beans, the most annoying song on this release, was also featured on Outcesticide Volume 3 as well as Nirvana's "With The Lights Out" box set released in 2004.
Much much more could have been done with this release and there was certainly room for more tracks.
The fans of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana need to let the official camps know that fans will not stand for this occasional dripping of unreleased recordings though periods that span across two decades and in that time period, fans have unearthed more recordings than the Estate has released.
Often pulling down recordings on youtube that Krist Novoselic himself appears to have leaked
(Elmo from Seasame Street does not leak Nirvana recordings people....) - Curious about a tune in the film and appreciate any help. It's at around 1 hr 57 where someone is talking about "I Hate Myself And Want To Die". The tune is pretty and quiet, consisting of marimba and harmonium. Thanks.
