The best Elton John record. If you need anything of his in your collection, it would be this one. Such a classic. I haven't heard any other pressing, but this version sounds amazing to me.

My first Rock/Pop LP. Bought on release by my parents for Christmas. I'm 66 now - do the math. Excellent.

I've owned this since I was eight years old in 1974 (yes I know it came out the year before but we weren't so 'on it' in those hazy 70s days). So it really is an old friend. I absolutely pored over every detail of the trifold sleeve while listening to it, transported by it all.

Music really was completely absorbing in those days. We'd put on a record and do nothing else but sit there, listening to it. It wasn't something to 'work out to' or 'jog to' or 'do the dishes to'. It was a total occupying activity with the only interruption being when it was time to turn it over.

Best song on the album? The last track 'Harmony'....
Perfectly placed at the end. Mesmerising. My heart aches when I hear it as it evokes a time that's long gone and so long ago. Elton's voice....young, strong and clear. Ahhhh, the early 1970s. So privileged to have been there in that simple, uncomplicated, quieter time.

I have a copy of this (of what looks like this) release but the back cover says 'Printed and made by Garrod and Lofthouse", not Euro-Albums Holland. All the rest if as per this release, i.e. trifold, not translucent, and the labels are all silver on black i.e. no yellow or gold. The cat numbers on the labels are also the same, and the numbers in the run-out grooves very similar, i.e. it cd be a separate variant. The only thing that doesn't match is that 'Printed by' bit. Could it be that some copies were produced with that cover? I have looked at all the others variants that say they were printed by Garrod and Lofthouse on the cover, but they're all with yellow or gold writing on the labels, or with very different cat numbers, both on the labels and in the grooves. Really puzzled - and I don't think it's yet another different release. Wonder if I can add it to this one, specifying that 'Printed by' variant in the notes?

I picked up a mint copy and it sounds fantastic. I had a Back To Black pressing but I sold it as it sucked. This original is the way it’s meant to be heard!!!

My copy version isn't listed above. It is a club release, but is not Columbia House. On bottom back of cover has "MFD. UNDER LICENSE BY RECORD CLUB OF AMERICA, INC." Otherwise looks to be a MCA-10003 release but has label variations from any listed above.
