Reviews
- Its okay. Really all I can say to describe this pressing. I guess it’ll sound great on a suitcase turntable though. I compared this to the 2 LP 2018 release and the 2001 German record with 320 in the matrix (also found on the 2008 Back to Black release). Overall, the German record pissed all over the two other copies. The 2018 2 LP release sounded much better than the 2015 1 disc cut, and plus both the german and the 2018 records were cleaner and without any stains or marks on the vinyl unlike the 2015’s marked up surface. I will say though, really nice looking glossy cover.
I used “Out Ta Get Me” to compare. Something happened to Stevie’s kick drum on the 2015, it’s missing. On the 2001 German, it’s in force and loud, same with the 2018 2 LP set. Axl’s voice sounds much better on the German record and the 2015, the 2018 LPs limit his high intense vocal in a weird way, i guess it’s compression? Bass is decent on the 2015 and the 2018, but it doesn’t beat the 2001 German record. The cowbell, Axl’s vocals, Popcorn’s drums, Slash’s guitar and especially Izzy’s rhythm sounded much better on the 2001. Although the 2015 is a mess, I slightly prefer it to the 2018 due to the distortion on Axl’s voice, as well as the fact that the 2018 was pressed at GZ - Absolute garbage. This thing was warped like a potato chip, which I've heard was pretty common with this release. Very poor quality control. I can't comment on the sound quality because I couldn't get the stylus to track for more than a single revolution. AVOID this and get the 2008 Back To Black release instead. It's still affordable and sounds pretty good if you don't want to shell out for an OG first press.
- Got a copy of this today and this pressing is horrible. Very quiet have to really turn it up to barely hear it. Sounds very thin and tinny. My cd copy sounds better this is an album you are supposed to crank and you cant with this pressing
- sounds great! i picked this and the 2 use your illusion lp's up today because i had to have the essential gnr on vinyl! \m/
