Reviews
- Edited one year agoTLDR: Up pressing > VMP > Glacial Pace
I had the reissue from 2014, and ordered the VMP version as soon as it was announced. However, I found the VMP similar in mastering to the Glacial Pace version but with more refined bass, which makes sense since it was mastered at the same place and from (I would assume) the same copy of tape. Decided to order the original Up pressing to make sure I could pick the best version, and I'm glad I did. Definitely superior to reissues, there's better vocal clarity and detail, as well as punch. The VMP has more bass, but it's a bit boomy and not quite as punchy. VMP definitely has the better packaging though, and of course is a much better value. - Edited 6 years agoI will also agree that the original version sounds much better than the repress, this applies to all of the MM records that I have heard. Owned the original version of the Fruit That Ate Itself and Sad Sappy Sucker and have never heard a repressed version so I can't comment there. The repressing sounds distorted as well, original does not (applies to all of the records that I have heard.)
- I spent a big chunk of my tax refund on a sealed copy of this (original pressing) and I wanted to say it sounds infinitely better than the reissue. It's still the same lofi album, but the pressing is soft and spacious. I find the reissue gives me a headache in headphones. Worth the $.
- Anybody notice that the spine of the records has catalog number UP44 and the vinyls list UP 044? Is this consistent with the original pressings?
- Just got a sealed copy of this, wondering if anyone has seen any sealed copies in the last few years? Hefty price tag but worth it.
