- Umek's filthy electro workout has always had a special place in my heart. McCormack's was the one that got absolutely caned by all of the DJs back when it was released, but the Umek one does something quite different with the Space DJz ammunition.
- Techno: Driving Tools. Chris McCormack takes the award for most insane mix here. A1 one of the most extreme pieces I own.
However it's is the two Gaetek mixes C2,D1 that I picked this release up for. Nothing too outrageous about them but two expertly conceived slabs of pounding techno. Well constructed loops that have enough about them and sufficiently finessed to maintain interest throughout. Confident professional stuff.
A special mention to the D2 which is an energetic looping stomper that while very good in it's own right ends in a flawless locked groove that doesn't overtly announce itself. It has the ability to be endlessly tweaked and manipulated with whatever toys are at your disposal. It gives you a week to introduce a difficult track or allow for that all important comfort break.
While the other mixes are reasonably diverse, none managed to anything noteworthy enough to bother reviewing them. - Not sure why everyone has failed to mention the fact that Chris McCormack's remix is one of the most insanely mental tekno tunes ever written - blows up any party, every time.
Even better than his numbers and measures remix which is a big call i hear u say. Crazy loops and devastating drops. The Umek remix aint half bad as well - rather rolling and rocking electro/breaks fusion that is completely unlike anything he's ever written (not even Zeta Reticula stuff) - Nice little techno sampler if you want to know what's going down with this sound these days, all tracks are hella different from each other so I'm not sure why they're referred to as "remixes", anywho, Gaetek, comes correct with some funkyness on both of his mixes and the Indigo K. track is pumpin'. All the other tracks don't do much for me.
- Edited 20 years agoThis is an excellent package, if you come accross it, buy it the Inigo Kennedy remix has to be the best along with the Gaetek Remix 2 (if you can find that)
