This album is Sky Cries Mary in their first of three iterations, prior to Anisa Romero joining the band 2 or 3 years later. During this time, SCM appeared with Nine Inch Nails and Einstürzende Neubauten. Until the Grinders Cease is heavy on the experimental and noise side of the industrial sound--screaming and clanking abound. Opening track "Propergenda" is slow-chugger with almost chant-like vocals. The best track of the album actually appears only as a bonus track on the CD version, "Serpent Sheds," which is more melodic song and is reminiscent of some of Front 242's more "danceable" tracks. Band lore has it that only 4,000 copies of the record were pressed originally, and it was in huge demand among SCM fans during the mid-90s as the band became more known locally and nationally. The rare copy on the market then sold for $40 and up at the time.
