Reviews
- Erik Baron is best-known to me as half of the pioneering avant-Zeuhl duo Orient-Express from the 1980s. He's since become more widely known via being a member of Art Zoyd and with his own ensemble d-zAkord. He's always been quite a master of the bass guitar, eking out unfathomable sounds from his 5 string bass, which he does by means of effects and trickery. With [TSU] he takes this to whole different level, so much so that I can only guess how he did it, with his instrument propelling sounds in complicated patterns - some sorts of guitar synthesizers and/or triggering devices involved for sure, ending up with a whole orchestra of textures that feel more like electroacoustic music or "Musique Concrète". Big, oozy, frothy and deep, it's quite a fascinating work.
