Reviews
- There is a hidden last track on this Compilation that is not listed. Sounds like the odd soundtrack to the Moomins. Does anybody know what it is?
- Edited 5 years agoThis really is an excellent compilation. I cannot imagine anyone regretting a purchase! Despite the eclectic choices, there’s a great late night/early morning feel to it all... This should be snapped up, pronto.
- PR blurb:
January 2016 gets off to a cosmic bang with the unveiling of the debut release from new Manchester private press label Nevertime Records. The first instalment ‘These Wild Combinations’ sees world-renowned crate-digger Dom Thomas (Whyte Horses) bring together his favourite musical discoveries hoarded from DJ jaunts across the world. Assembling an anti-compilation of vintage and contemporary music from lesser known and obscure artists ranging from the late sixties to the present day. Disparate music that defies catergorisation and mixtape sensibilities are the order of the day, a definite statement echoing the sign of the times. Thomas presents a mutilated Back to Mine hybrid, allowing songs from different times and genres to rub shoulders together. Cosmic Disco is pitted against Aussie minimal post-rock, circular tripped out electronic dubs fade into instrumentals that could have soundtracked an opium-den era Ira Cohen photoshoot. Lesser known and unheralded heros find a new outlet, some songs seeing their first outing on vinyl. These lovingly crafted albums come housed in zebra-flecked hand made wibalin sleeve with hand-stamped artwork and insert. As a bonus track to round off proceedings is the first ever recorded piece of work by The Go! Team’s Ian Parton, Dom’s cowriter on some of the recently sought after Whyte Horses recordings. Keep an eye out in 2016 for more releases from this instantly collectable vinyl-only label producing. Strictly short run compilations, new music and re-issues featuring guest contributors are soon to be revealed...
