- Picked this up at a record fair at the weekend for £7! Vinyl in mint condition, looks as sounds as if it's never been played. Wow, just wow. Shoots almost to the top of favourites in the collection. I have the blue lettering. Well worth getting hold of a mint copy.
- Picked a copy up of this recently for next to nothing, variant 2, cover in great shape and the record looks unplayed, sounds great and takes me back to my youth, I was too young to buy albums when this was released, pocket money didn't stretch to LPs. Ghost in the Machine was my only Police LP back then released a few years later. Feeling really lucky to have picked up such a great copy.
- This is ridiculous. Why aren't the different color "The Police" pressings split up into different releases? Why are there 14,000 runouts on one release?
According to these comments and those in the release, it could either be blue (which is the main picture) red, or green. It seems most have the red...WTF? - Are these matrix numbers appropriate for this entry? I'm holding a copy with the following:
SIDE ONE: AMLH-68502-A-10
SIDE TWO: D AMLH-68502-B-10 0 - I have a copy of the album (with the red lettering on the cover) that has no markings on the label indicating a pressing plant, but has the labels mixed up - what is side one on the cover is actually side two on the label, and vice versa. The song orders are identical, but the side numbers on the labels are reversed. I don't see that variant here in the catalog. Is it there and I'm just missing it?
- I own a mix/mash of U.S., Japan, UK pressings of all Police albums apart from Synchronicity, which I find "fluffy". My opinion is find a clean at least NM copy and your ears will be happy. No need to chase optimal sound with these recordings. Hell, they sounded good on tape in the 80's, they'll sound good now!!
- Subsound is quite dynamic, the highs are moderate, the presence of the snare is clear. The precise bass. The speech in be my girl is heard in the right mix. This edition is much better tonally than other US or more recent reissues. Something that I like about this editions is the blow it gives when it is heard. amazing i love it.
- Edited 6 years agoThis UK press is the one to beat! Not only is the back cover cooler than the other pressings but the soundstage is equally as good. Beats my 1st Usa press and others I have had. This is bright and full. Steve Hoffman site approved too
- Mine has ALMH 68502 - A10 tone and AMLH 68502 - B7 with the 7 scratched out and 8 stamped!!!! Bought in 78 I was an early adopter so could be earlyish?
