Even though the late great John Peel was before my time, this is a really good mix and extremely diverse too ranging from Punk Rock, Drum & Bass, Reggae, Soul, Happy Hardcore etc being mashed together in a blender plus samples of Liverpool Football Commentary to spice things up, which makes a nice change from a lot of DJ's who like to stick to only playing nothing but trendy sub-genre of the moment.

Such a shame he died before I became a DJ/Producer and really got into music seriously, I would have loved his radio show back in the day!

My copy includes a 32-page 'fabric CD series 2001-2002' booklet with release history and label info (as well as the usual 4 page booklet with track info obviously)

This isn't really a "mix" in the traditional sense, as all the other Fabric releases are, more of a collection of tunes that influenced Peel over the years, along with some material that he was interested in at the time. That is what makes it so appealing.

The great man once admitted he couldn't mix two records to save his life, but this compilation holds that special appeal that his radio show had. It lumps a whole load of different genres together and holds your attention for the duration, no matter what your musical taste. Brilliant.

Now this really is something special. 100% unique. This is Mr Peel's first ever compilation/mix CD, which is interesting considering that he is 63 years old. I don't know about anyone else, but my copy comes in an embossed metal tin encased in a cardboard sleeve, which makes it even more essential than it already is. And if, like me, you are a Liverpool supporter, this will be extra special due to the Liverpool commentary he sneaks in. John Peel is a national treasure, there's no doubt about it.
