I am pretty happy with this version, no surface noise, sound is balanced and rich. The gatefold is pretty and the vinyl itself is pretty heavy, maybe more than 180.
Lovely sounding pressing. Mines nice and quiet and rich. As an album it’s pretty much perfect. I’ve not heard any other Stevie albums but I’ll definitely be checking some more out. Curious about The Secret Life of Plants 🤔. Wonder why there are no credits for Higher Ground on the back of the sleeve?
Ah, I see below the other credits it states Stevie plays everything himself on Higher Ground and Jesus Children Of America. That makes this even more impressive!!!
Pressing sounds really good to my ears and the disc is nice and flat. Replaced an old copy in horrible condition. Only complaint is that there was gunk deeply embedded in the grooves on side 1. A run through my spin-clean didn’t do much to clean it out so it’s been up to my stylus to scrape it out.
What a beautiful record, excellent songs and playing, and the mix and production are terrific. This predates his masterpiece (SKL), but is no less amazing. Highlights are "Living For The City" and "Higher Ground".
This 180g vinyl reissue sounds very nice, wide soundstage, dynamic, and dead silent between tracks. Recommended.
Sounds really good, you can notice the details and the arrangements, its a good remaster, but you can also notice the digital thing, sounds less alive and organic than the first 70s pressings.
The thing is that as most of 30+ year old vinyls they all have issues or minor defects. I have all the other classic Stevie albums, 2nd hand, old and they all have defects so I wanted to try this new edition looking for a clean play. Im happy, so if you find it for 15€ or less buy it. The other option is an old copy but don't spend more than 10€ in an vinyl that is 40 years old.
Out of all the vinyl reissues there have been for Innervisions, this is the one to get. Less sibilance and distortion on the vocals, more depth and detail in the instrumentation, and overall a more balanced and warm sound. Plus it includes a download card, which is always a nice bonus.
