Notes

This is a rare unreleased album by The Mamas and The Papas. The tracks on this album have the vocals of Jill Gibson not Michelle Phillips. In 1966, Michelle was temporarily fired from the group and was replaced by Gibson. For the three months Gibson was in the group, this was the only album she recorded with them. When Michelle was put back into the group, the album was changed to the self titled album, The Mamas and The Papas. Crashon Screamon All Fall Down was never officially released to the public; the only copies circulating were pre-released copies

Never say never but it seems impossible for a record that supposedly got so far down the road that even trade ads were published, that no pressings, test pressings, acetates or any physical artwork on this has ever turned up.

It's been determined through extensive research that this LP probably does not exist. Although there is a possibility that some mocked-up LP jackets were distributed internally at the Dunhill offices (and equally possible, an acetate or two of the proposed LP lineup) no copies of the actual finished LP have surfaced, in spite of persistent stories that say that "thousands" of promotional copies were sent to radio stations in 1966.

As the group was later billed for the creation of new record labels and cover slicks to replace ones that were reported as scrapped, it seems that the LP was changed to the familiar 2nd LP design & lineup before any copies were distributed.

The picture used above to illustrate this listing is a copy of a picture widely available on the internet, which was scanned from some 1966 promotional materials that were published before the album was changed.

WHERE are these pre-released copies? SOMEBODY has them! SOMEBODY show the labels and rear slick of this album cover! Better yet, SOMEBODY sell me a copy!
