- Edited 15 years agoThis is the return of Scion, and essentail quality dub techno! As long as stuff like this will be made we dont have to worry..
Substance and Vainqueur capture the timeless again, this is classic stuff, Berlin techno is alive and always will be.
Surface, on the A side of the record, is such a good track, reminds of early work from the Chain Reaction label, crispy, dubby, raw Berlin dub techno.
The track, Immersion, on the B side is just as good, i saw Substance and Vanqueur doing a liveset this weekend in berlin, they kicked of with this track, the whole crowd was going mad!!
Get this record if you like good techno, a masterpiece, i hope more will come!
- Edited 15 years agoWho would have thought that some ten years after some of the classic Chain Reaction releases by artists like Substance and Vainqueur that the magic could be reborn. This 12" holds the same icy minimal power as those of the earlier days. Peter Kuschnereit's last release under the name of Substance was the 1998 "Session Elements" CD. Not sure where he went, but his "surface" cut on this 12" warrants a new full length CD in my opinion. Meanwhile the last significant release by René Löwe of Vainqueur was the 1997 CD "Elevations," a true masterpiece and, as with Substance, the "immersion" cut on this 12" should not be taken lightly. A powerful duo, and an essential release. Do not miss out on this important milestone in minimal techno history... alas, the return of Substance and Vainqueur!
