a real tgilty pleasure" album for me. Except track 1 3 and 8 which are more borring.
Track 5 is a dance fav for me.

Ivan have a great voice and made a pretty nice record nevertheless, tracks 2 and 5 should have been hits.

If Men Without Hats absorbed more of a techno/trance sensibility into their approach, you'd no doubt have Ivan's one & only album. That makes sense, as he's the leader of the aforementioned synth-pop trio, and while The Spell doesn't stray all that far from the MWH template, it ups the synth-dance ante while (somewhat) downplaying the pop aspects of his parent band. That being said, The Spell isn't particularly ingenious or memorable, more of a serviceable if innocuous piece of mildly diverting poptronica. Meh.
