The groups of Kai Winding and Sonny Stitt
"Early Modern consists of a dozen sides originally released by Royal Roost and Roost on ten-inch 78rpm records, later issued on Kai Winding All Stars, Sonny Stitt All Stars - Modern Jazz Spectacular, and now re-issued in this re-recorded fashion by Jazztone with every effort made to enhance the sound without in any way interfering with the natural tonal quality of the music itself."

A5 to B2 recorded in New York, May 31, 1951
B3 & B4 recorded at Fulton Recording, New York, Nov. 16, 1953
B5 & B6 recorded at Coastal Recording, New York, March 18, 1953
