OP Toco2009 was referring to GRAUZONE (as the “original”) and their first version of Eisbaer was officially released in 1980 on the “SWISS WAVE” compilation LP; achieving 3rd edition pressings distributed by July, in the Summer of 1980.

Even though the first YELLO 7-inch EP was released in 1979, the band didn’t achieve international distribution until their first full-length album was released by San Francisco label, Ralph Records, in 1980 *after* the “SWISS WAVE” album had been in worldwide circulation.
GRAUZONE may have actually recorded (production of) “Eisbaer” in 1979 prior to 1980’s manufacturing of “SWISS WAVE” LP.

    YELLO and GRAUZONE were contemporaries.

When you’ve Heard the original version, you must think about the times it was made. A super track, Even before Yello . Non english new wave/synth had a hard time to sell records. Language barriers made it almost impossible to Get a hit in europe. When Kraftwerk & D.A.F were Good enough, things starting to happen. Check out the original and forget about «trance» or whatever you call it.

I don't know what's all the fuss of Eisbaer it's a decent track in my opinion with nothing of originality, but Groovezone's little pretty unheard baby "A Melody" is far better than Eisbaer a nice clicky beat with cool chorus and lovely piano! A small gem in my trance mind.
