Reviews
- Basement Jaxx’s first proper album comes out of the gate like gangbusters. There’s the trifecta of “Rendez-Vu,” “Yo-Yo,” and “Jump N’ Shout” followed by the funky and enigmatic “U Can’t Stop Me.” The second half of the album, however, doesn’t show the same strength. The Latin stomp of “Bingo Bango” has some of that rogue spirit when it abandons its typical structure for some squealing synths. The final track, “Being With U,” once again picks up the DIY spirit that Basement Jaxx have come to embody, and it’s a perfect capper to a strong, if imperfect, album. Remedy might not treat all your symptoms, but it’ll sure make you feel better.
