Having recently bought the 3 released to date albums by The Delta and being completely blown away by them I couldn’t help not buying their only so far CD single released in the now remote 2000. Here we have 5 versions of a track released a year previously on the Scizoeffective album; or rather an intro and 4 mixes. The “Intro”, originally placed as track 3 on the album, is the perfect opening for this horror-trip. Mix 2 is the version we find on the album and is tagged here as “Lp Edit”, but in reality this version never made it on any Lp. This is surely the best mix of all. Version 3 is tagged as “Vinyl Edit” and is released on vinyl. This is a shorter version of the “Lp Edit” and appeared on at least 2 solid compilations; Tantrance 10 and Goa-Head 13.
Mix 4, “D Edit”, has some slightly different scary sounds from the previous 2 versions and has a melody not present in any mix. Actually I found myself totally addicted to this mix thanks to this extra melodic tweak. Finally, we get the “Soundtrack”, which looks like the end of the world has indeed arrived. This is a completely beatless version incorporating sounds from all mixes, even from the “Intro”. Ambient ? Too scary to call this ambient. If it wasn’t enough proof that Horror Trance *made with brains* gets scarier at a slower tempo, “Soundtrack” is the proof that at no beat at all it gets even scarier….
