- Some people like the tube cuts, some like the solid state cuts. I like both at different times and moods This -1/-1 tube cuts is really amazing vocally.
- I've been driving myself crazy here trying to find a 1967 STEREO copy with "Patents Pending" on the back cover, which supposedly exists. However the only ones I come across are from this EMI one-box pressing from 1970. That makes no sense! Can anyone explain it to me? 😎
- I think this is the one if you can't afford the 1st. Amazing sound. Plain white sleeve is original to this one right?
- Edited 2 years agoMy copy has the flip back cover on the inside. From what I have read these were the tube cuts on the 1 box emi. If so that is why they are so amazing. Not as clean and precise but with that awesome vinyl sound that brings out the sound of tape recordings. And that is how the Beatles sounded when they came out..which I guess is the point. BTW I am not saying this to sell a record..you can never have this...and my daughter has dibbs...LOL. Sound on this is very 60s. High end is not huge but the mid and bass are incredible. I find this to also be true of my similar era Beatles Help! Revolver etc. Very natural and beautiful sounding. Bass guitar is incredible and I dont even need a sub woofer on my bookshelves. IMO this is not a pressing for those into articulate or detailed sound. IF you like that get the EAS Japanese version. Which I own. And is also incredible but in a more detailed and holographic way. IF you want that beautiful 60s vinyl sound. This is it. First press better? Not sure but they use the same metal work so they must be pretty close. The cover is beautiful also. Something that most reissues just dont get right.
- My copy has YEX 637-1 A-side and YEX 638-1 B-side. All other information matches. But it does not belong here? (r8703666).
It also says GLG 2 (A) and GHD 1 (B), but I can´t find it anywhere. - I have a one box EMI Sgt Pepper stereo flip back cover but with no Patents Pending on the back.
Is it possible that these were also issued at the time of the one box releases?
