not one of the stronger post punk compilations i've bought,
the track is as eccentric as you'd expect if you've read Simon Reynolds book or chatted to him

the book dismisses Killing Joke as a heavy metal band and the sleeve notes make clear that his selection is designed to avoid cheeswire guitars and punk funk, so no Gang of 4, no medium medium etc

maybe i'm not the target audience since i like the above and already own the Young Marble Giants,Slits & Cabaret Voltaire tracks used

Jozek K, Fatal Microbes & Scritti Politi are welcome inclusions

The inclusion of the Banshees is excellent , they're inexplicably absent from the other post-punk compilations i own BUT the choice of track could have been better

theres really no excuse for not including the title track by Orange Juice
instead theres an awful Heaven 17 track that has sounds horribly dated

I'll give it time to grow on me but currently i find the French Compilation "New Wave Post Punk 1977-1981" (Naive, 2011)more compelling
