Jellybean's remix of 'I Confess' is a lost gem amongst his slurry of decent 80's output...
His pacey / foot savvy tom tom & conga laden finds a kind of unlikely jazz- funk haven, coupled with Dave Wakeling's vocals (which do not sound unlike 'Orange Juice'), a piano sounding straight out of vintage Peanuts territory (https://www.discogs.com/master/923585-Vince-Guaraldi-Trio-Peanuts-Greatest-Hits) & some Caribbean guitar flourishes. And a ton more...
But it works! Very well, uplifting, different & obscure, a great dancefloor moment waiting to be rediscovered IMHO.
SELFISH NOTE: Just remembered my Avatar since day one here on Discogs has been the DJ booth from the 'Fun House'. Jellybean held residency there for most of its active days; he pulled crowds from all over as his DJ work gained much respect, including Madonna (who he dated for some time & no doubt introduced to industry types, helping her career no end). No the buck doesn't stop with David Mancuso & Larry Levan...
