Reviews
- I've got a weird case here. My version has the same barcode, it says 2016, but no Philips logo and no colored circles on the cover. It's not the MOV version. It says Verve on the back and on the labels, but has a completely different Matrix that can't be found on here: 010609403-A-2
Does anyone know what version that is? - Edited 2 years agoDownload only as mp3, website from them asks for email password (unless you login in with tumblr or youtube or others I do not use). Download without it not possible. Record was warped and could not be played, download not secure. Thanks for nothing, back to black.
I cannot comment on pressing, usually they are good. My complaint refers only to the download page. Why is the code not enough...? - Can 100% agree with all the glowing reviews here. Clean vinyl with no surface noise (between tracks or otherwise), crisp sound, good stereo balancing that isn't overbearing. I'm seeing pretty good prices on Discogs too. Inner sleeve anti-static is a great touch.
- Everything right here. The mastering, sound, pressing quality, qs, repro cover, polylined and the price.
- This pressing is perfection. Super quiet background and beautiful clarity, you won't be disappointed.
- Reissue with very good sound. The pressing is correct. Nina's voice sounds clear and deep and the instruments are appreciated separately. It is appreciated the detail in the reproduction of the original folder. The inner case is antistatic.
- Well what can you say UMG 9.5 out of 10
flawless beautiful retro pressing perfect sleeve POLYLINED DIE-CUT INNER, NO BARCODE just how it should be!
The sonics are just glorious rich and deep a joy to have in the library
Where this retro looses just .5 of a mark and it's tiny really but lets it down.
1, On the rear of the sleeve the MONOPHONIC and cat # should IMHO been airbrushed out as totally irrelevant
2. A black line should have been inserted between Chilly Winds and Aint No Use to show which is which on the two sides and a 1 and 2 to show the two sides.
3. The spine should have had the original USA Stereo cat number not a UMG telephone number barcode.
very minor niggles but should have been sorted
I love the false and very untrue statement USA wise Philips was NEVER a subsidiary of Mercury Inc in 1963 they became their parent and owners outright also changed the whole global record industry forever! Holland Philips wanted a door into the USA, so what better way than buy a company outright so they did. - I have never heard an original but this one sounds really really good. Very nice reissue ! I think all this Phillips campaign worth it.
