Edited 5 days agoDecent Doug Sax mastering and a thin bottom end aside, this album was at once called "rock's crowning masterpiece" (Rolling Stone) and "an...overblown and awkward album" (The Guardian). Two certainties emerge: (ONE) The album is filled with Waters' screeching vocals which (TWO) are either reviled or revered by those in the two separate camps birthed by this album. Pro-Waters fans call it the perfect exit, while Team Gilmour pretends this album doesn't exist in the Floyd catalogue. It is essentially Roger Waters' first solo album; Gilmour- the best vocalist in the band- doesn't sing a note anywhere here. If you're strictly Pro-Waters, this pressing may be exactly the right cut, as long as a lack of deep punchy bass is acceptable.
Absolutely amazing pressing, and great, great album! You can smell WW2 while listening to this record. Masterpiece.
