Just got this on here, and it sounds awesome, except it's noisy. I've heard the rumors, but hoped I'd get a clean one. Oh well. The packaging is top notch though, and the vinyl might be the best looking I've seen. I'll get a new repress and compare soon. 0946/2016

I just listened to this after having misplaced it for years. The pressing is quiet, with zero surface noise or ticks. The sound is pretty good, but so did not compare to the cd. I did find the mix to be a bit surprising with what seemed like Elliott and guitar hard panned to the left. I noticed a bit of wow and flutter at the very end of can’t make a sound and on bye, but it really wasn’t distracting at the point in the record.

My Side A sounded pretty great all the way through. Side B has pretty significant pitch issues... Sounds equivalent to bad wow and flutter.

The mastering on this is actually pretty good, but the huge problem it has is that it's just far too long for a single LP. The inner tracks are a distorted mess, and both copies I owned of this were off-center, causing the last few tracks on each side ("Bye" in particular) to sound just comically bad. The original pressing is the only pressing of this album that's good, and even that one isn't exceptional. I wonder if this album will ever sound fantastic.

Vinyl color and packaging are beautifully put together, and my copies didn't have any surface noise.

One thing I'm curious to know is whether this 1LP version sounds better than the 2LP 2013 pressing. It seems unlikely it could, but if someone has both, I'd be very interested to know.

Of the recent batch that mysteriously went back on sale on Bong Load and at various stores (Resident etc), can anyone confirm that they're noisy pressings or not. I don't want to waste my time hunting one down if they are.

Noisy as hell. I wonder if all the ones Bong Load mysteriously had back up for sale after being unavailable for a while were ones people sent back.

My copy was pretty noisey, anyone else have this issue?

I've owned two other versions - the red and blue plain edition and the back to black repress - and this is easily best of the three, despite the slight surface noise. Also the artwork is loads sharper - I guess all reissues have relied on scans of the original up to now, but the difference is night and day - compare the back covers. You can't even tell Elliott's wearing an earring on the plain and geffen reissues!

My copy is just a single LP, not a double. I don't think they offered a double.
