Convextion – 2845

'2845' to me is the mellower companion to the s/t album. While the tempos are slowed down a bit and the overall intensity is reduced, what Gerard Hanson does instead is paint beautiful colours across a pulsating techno template. It's got it all here; a wonderful feel for reduced minimalist drum programming with a touch of swing, and gorgeous undulating pads, and even some ear worm melodies. Particular favourites for me are 'New Horizons' with it's spacey sci-fi ambience and the swinging drums and beautiful melodies of 'Sea & Satellite'. The s/t album for me was about dubby techno textures, whereas this record shows a lush, dare I say romantic side to Convextion's sound.

Excellent album comprising of some very deep dub techno tracks. Gerard Hanson is the genius behind E.R.P - think of this quality of production and arrangement but straight 4x4 beats and a deep sense of calm emptiness - that is how I would describe the feeling of this album. My personal favourite GH release. The artwork is beautiful too.

Tidal Friction is it for me, awesome masterpiece, but the other tracks also continue to be above average!

Very great album. It's a shame the pressing quality could have been better.

This has taken me further into the universe than any other electronic album has ever done, a masterpiece in space and time.

Saline Moon is Astonishing - I dream of hearing this played out or even better hearing him play it live- whole LP is such a slow burning classic.

This album reminds me of B12s time tourist. This is no bad thing and both are essential records. 5/5

I wasn't sure whether to buy this as I have a lot of 'deep/melodic' techno and electro. I'm glad I did though because despite being 100% deep, there is a wonderful uniqueness to the tracks. They all stand on their own as great compositions.
