It's hilarious reading the sleeve notes to this LP because they were based on the misprinted running order of the first edition. As a result, the writer, Ira Gitler, struggles to make sense of what he calls the "odd choice" of titles for each track. The highlight is when he tackles the dark, ominous mood of "Prints Tie" which had been incongruously matched with the homely title of "Goin' down south", Joe Sample's affectionate homage to his Texan roots. Whilst Sample probably had nostalgic images in mind of BBQs at ma and pops, the hapless Gitler, a life long new-yorker, can only rationalise it as some kind of comment on southern backwardness with black consciousness overtones : "Goin' down south is a trip for the mind. it's probably more rewarding than sending your body". LOL
