Reviews
- I was excited for this remastered release, because I have loved the original album for many years, but it was sadly underwhelming. In fact, the sound quality is kinda backward. My original Arista release from 1984 sounds more like a remaster than this new remaster does! I knew that my original LP has always sounded great, so I was curious as to how a remaster could really improve upon it and I found that there was no improving it in any way. The depth is lacking, the different instrument levels are all over the place, some parts sound compressed and cut by a noise gate, and there is surprisingly LESS bass than the original! This remaster was fabled to bring out the wonderful synth parts even more, but somehow subdued them. This release would have been worth owning for the extra LP of remixes, but you only get half of the remixes that were originally included on the double cassette! Such a missed opportunity in so many ways. I wish that I had purchased the limited edition blue vinyl, so it would have at least looked cool. I want to support the (quality) reissuing of classic albums, but I would recommend skipping this one and buying a fresh sealed copy of the original release if you don’t already have one.
- It's unfortunate that, for whatever reason, the bonus disc here does not include the complete remix album that accompanied the original UK cassette. This same company's reissue of "Quick Step & Side Kick" accurately reproduced that album's UK cassette remix album, so I was expecting this release to do the same. Unfortunately I didn't read the track listing closely enough before ordering. Having purchased the nice looking blue vinyl reissue they just recently released, I didn't need this double disc at all. That said, it's not particularly bad, just unnecessary and very perplexing. I'll be more careful when ordering in the future.
