Reviews
- I really like this one.. The new mix is nice. Blitzkrieg Bop starts with Dee Dee counting in with ONE -TWO -THREE - FOUR is awesome.
- The mono mix is a great idea but its implementation on the LP is utterly awful (played several times on a VPI Scout). It is clearly from a brickwalled, overly-compressed master and sounds it. I don’t think it was created to be listened to at all; it’s more of a fetish item for people who have a compulsive need to buy “vinyls”.
The sound quality is actually pretty reasonable if you rip the CDs to flac and listen on computer speakers but therein lies the problem; everything today is mastered for the lowest common denominator of iphone/laptop with scant regard to offering a quality vinyl listening experience (the masters are almost certainly one and the same)
I have a 1976 first pressing of this album and know that this awful 40th anniversary junk is not what Da Bruddas sounded like. If you are considering buying this to listen to the LP, I strongly encourage you to pass. - Don't get fooled by the "hard-cover book" add, actually what comes with this release is just a thin paper booklet of some sheets and that's it. WWJD?!
- Shame "Judy is a punk" and "Basement" demos not included. Loudmouth mono mix sounds very opaque, the rest is perfect, with the "1,2,3,4!!!" at the beginning of each song.
- I'm loving the mono vinyl. It's a ridiculously loud and blown-out as one would hope for. There's nothing quite like hearing a new twist on an old classic. Haven't listened to the CDs yet, but I am looking forward to digging into what they offer.
- Shame all the extras are on CD rather than vinyl and for some reason the vinyl they did include is mono, I guess they missed a chance to press it at 78 too...
