- Everybody here is talking about those dustie bros but Goa (The Heat The Energy Part 2) is probably the dirtiest acid track The Prodigy ever made in their carreer. Dropped this many times in my acid sets....dirty filthy underground acid baby! That TB303 just doesn't stop.....acid dripping
- Edited one year agoThe Chemical (then Dust) Brothers' remix of "Voodoo People" is sleek and funky big beat built around a couple of low-slung basslines from their "Leave Home" mould. Not so much a remix as an original track, with only the "Voodoo People" lyric to remind you of the Prodigy original that it supersedes. Hip hop samples abound, including the drums from Show & A.G.'s "Fat Pockets", turntablism from Beastie Boys' "Slow Ride", and raps from C.L.Smooth ("Rock the house, uh", from "For Pete's Sake") and KRS-One ("The beat may drop but not like all the others", lifted from "Poetry"). ★★★★☆
- Edited 9 years agoThe original version is still my fav, when i got this way back in 94 i was playing goa-the heat the energy quiet a bit but haven't listened to it for years . There was also a psy trance version of Voodoo people that i heard once at a rave in London which was pretty cool as well.
- Edited 19 years agoThe melody line of this alltime classic was also used in a hardcore track from 1998 by Mister DJ (it was the remix of the track Nhema Gayakaya) and also became an big classic.
The melody sounds rough but "happy" as wel which makes it an excellent melody.
