Whatever the tech stuff, from the tech guys talk about this version. I have been dancing/owning this U.K. 12”. WH Smith’s 99p, have never heard a more energetic, soulful piece of 10 minutes of ecstasy. For my amateur opinion, Tom Moulton had dibs on this and he messed up. If you want the best mix that was cobbled together from outtakes, sessions and pure luck. This is the one BTW, ‘Love train’ rocks too.

An impassioned diatribe Groovemaster but can I suggest you have a look at the Philadelphia International Classics; The Tom Moulton Remixes set that came out on Harmless Records in 2012? Track by track comments by TM and, there it is, the 9.39 mix. Project overseer Ian Dewhurst knows his stuff so I can't believe both he and TM himself would've allowed the "wrong" version to be included.

Please note that the poster is sadly miss-informed and and also tehnically correct at the same time.

1, This 9 and 1/2 minute marathon is the original un-edited studio take produced by Gamble and Huff, Mr Moulton was nowhere near the master multis OR the desk.
THE absolute definitive, must have, must own, Tom Moulton mix is 6:33 and came out USA wise on a limited edition Philly Int. 12" using the silver and black stars labels the die cut sleeve (also silver and black) has the Philly skyline at the bottom, the sleeve text says it all " Special Single 12" Version) 4Z8 3713 c/w Living For The Weekend 6:29 Gamble and Huff Original.
        2. The poster is indeed correct when he states the mix is uncredited as i. G & H did the production and ii. Tom Moulton had nothing to do with this, so his name is naturally not credited or noted.

I know you want to own and have this, but trust me and believe me as an absolute Philly aficionado and lover, secondly as a floor-filler professional DJ. Please, please, avoid this like the plague, if you must have this G&H original seek the USA Philly Int pressing of the compilation album as its double vinyl so the sonics are much better than on the UK single vinyl album.

You still will never really want to play this mix/version again, once you have heard what Tom Moulton (we are not worthy) did to this anthem of joy and made the definitve mix and version in a belting 6:33 floor filler, 100% teasing and tantalizing as only Tom can do, lifting and bringing out all the various elements and making lifting peaks as this trips along the 1210 at 33.3 + a tiny tad to suit personal tastes.
G&H knew Tom's credentials in creating THE floor fillers of the globe's dance floors, they rewarded him handsomely in the bank, he totally rewarded them, Norman Harris, William, Walter, Eddie, MFSB, & Frankford-Wayne Labs with a masterpiece.

The absolute Philly must-have, must play, must dance to, definition of what Sigma Sound was and was all about! Fact.
Seek it, demand it, own it 4Z8 3713 The Tom Moulton Mix I Love Music 6:33 accept NO substitute how ever desperate you are! The rewards are sonic heaven.
