Reviews
- Edited 18 years agoFijaka picks up where Kamikaze left off and drives the
genre of sequenced, technically accomplished drum-n-bass
to the next level with microscopically placed snare lines,
rumbling bass and long, long buildups. "Klek" "Stealth"
and "Cactus" are great tracks in their own right, but really
serve to set the stage for the 13-minute long epic title
track. "Fijaka" starts with a typically Photek-influenced slowjam but by the 6 minute mark it's shaking the foundations with subbass while it holds your interest with atmospherics and a fast, intricate snare/hihat line. The last half of the song is a slow runout with the addition of sampled human tongue-clicks in place of tom-tom accents,
providing a novel touch as the song winds down like a storm passing over.
Top-notch.
