Reviews
- My favorite Depeche Mode album. I own the CD and ‘86 US vinyl release. I have to say this sounds better than both. Someone criticized it as being too harsh in the high end but I totally disagree. The bass and low ends are booming for me . I love these DM reissues because the covers are so well done and I like the commentary inside the gatefold. I’m listening to A Question of Lust as I type this and it still moves me the same way it did in 1986. Brings back so many memories of love and relationships in my youth. ❤️
- Edited 5 years agoWhat is the difference to https://www.discogs.com/Depeche-Mode-Black-Celebration/release/13132856 ?
The cover and the matrix seems to be the same. The only difference in the discogs description is the series. This entry has one, the other has no series. - Sounds a bit harsh on top and a tad compressed. There's sibilance (good example is Question of Lust) that isn't there on the original. Matter of preference, but mine goes to the original '86 release.
- Edited 6 years agoSuperb remaster so much depth and sounds appearing that I had never heard before despite hearing this album 100 s of times over the years, Top quality pressing
- I had to return my first copy because of pops and snaps pressed into the LP made it unlistenable. I could see the lines in the grooves where these aberrations had been pressed in. The black LP had some white vinyl melted into it for some reason as well. I picked-up another copy of this pressing from a different lot and it was perfect: flat, centered, with incredible sound quality.
- This pressing has great and clear sound. I totally recommend it.
This album remains one of my all-time favourites. Next to groundbreaking hits, it also has often overlooked gems such as "Sometimes" and "It Doesn't Matter Two".
