love the a1 here, BUT it proves my theory* - you can make exccellent tracks with a computer/ 100% ITB but the percussion will be shit.

you cant make a meaningful bass drum with a computer. it may work for the IDM fanbase, but anyone who grew up with a real bass drum (and an old AKAI sampler), or a "909 bd" aint gonna buy these weak, middy timbres. it lacks meat and claws, it's there BUT it doesnt WORK.

compare this EP directly against First/ Basic Tonal Vocabulary - day and night. (I prefere the night* :)

Stormtrooper techno. Listen to this while you enslave Wookies and search for droids. The two original cuts by Surgeon are drenched in industrial dread. Bad Hands (Part II) has got a little bit of an acid vibe to it as well. Autechre's remix starts of as a relatively straight-forward techno piece, but then implodes towards the end. Excellent release.
