Notes
On cover: Electricity: 2 CD collection of capital beats & bleeps.
On insert: Electricity: Capital Beats & Bleeps.
On spine: Various, electronica-dance.
On disc: A Blatant Propaganda Production.
CD compiled and produced by: J.Citizen @ Room 101, Blatant Propaganda.
This CD was made possible with assistance from the A.C.T. Government through artsACT.
This double CD compilation contains a wide variety of Electronica and Electronic Dance Music from Canberran bands, musicians, DJs, producers and sound artists - that is they were living in or were from Canberra (ACT), the capital city of Australia. (The insert includes artist contact info and discographies.)
The music was recorded between the mid-1990s through to early 2003. Several songs from the collection received airplay on the national Triple J radio network along with numerous community radio stations.
The collection was compiled by DJ Robot Citizen as a result of hosting scores of radio shows during those years on Community Radio 2XX 98.3 FM - one of his weekly programs focused on electronic (dance) music and another program focused on local music; produced in Canberra or by Canberrans.
The compilation was employed also as a fundraiser and awareness-raising exercise to boost the profile for Community Radio 2XX 98.3fm. The collection was launched at a mid-2003 club night event called "eXXentricity" - held at Babylon nightclub in the heart of Canberra city - that featured 2 rooms of DJs and live artists; around 20 in all. Several hundred copies of the CD were given away as part of the door entry price. Others were sold for a nominal price via the radio station and independent record stores.
A second collection, a single CD, was released in 2004 and titled "Electricity 2". It was produced as a custom-made CDr and was given away at an event called "eXXentricity 2".
The music on these compilation CDs was re-released in 2014-2015 via Blatant Propaganda's Bandcamp page as a collection of 4 volumes; currently free-to-download. You can find them via http://www.BlatantPropaganda.org
