Sasha – Unreleased DJ Mixes

In my opinion these are just B-class tracks and that's why they weren't released as regular singles with full promotion. Scorchio is too minimalistic when compared with original. Of course there are people who will find it more attractive :) I was hooked by richness of sound of original mix and this version is to dull for me (as many Kleinenberg's productions). In case of Lupus... For me it's little bit hard to remember how it sounds. Just a filler in some set, to make transition between other tracks.
But remember - it's always question of private taste and I can easily understand those who will find both tracks very interesting, as they definitely aren't bad and have some specific taste.

A pretty hard to find vinyl with two brillant mixes of these two original Sasha productions.

Sander Kleinenberg takes the track 'Scorchio' into a bit more groovy direction with his remix. A soft bassline and some rolling percussion together with swift hi-hats slowly build the track during a lengthy intro. A subtile guitar-riff alleady shows some of what is about to come as we approach the track's peak, where the main synth-section delivers some serious amounts of energy. After that it's no less than three minutes of 'grooving' until the track finally comes to a halt. Kleinenberg manages to add energy and make the song more uplifting, while the sound itself remains rather light. A very subtile, yet pleasant remix.

For 'Lupus' there doesn't seem to be an original mix. The story goes that Sasha was working on a track but couldn't find the time to finish it, handing the material he had over to Jimmy Van M and Cass & Slide, who delivered this incredible production.
A deep basskick and funky, but sensual percussion start to build, when very creepy sounds emerge. Things that either could be crying voices or some form of a synthetic flute or trumpet. Either way the result is a very eerie and haunting sensation, which even gets strengthened as it gets acompanied by a lower-toned sequence made of somewhat the same formula, together with a deep and dark bassline. All gets even better as these 'crying voices' evolve into a chorus, bringing a very dark and melancholic melody where several layers of these creepy 'vocals' top eachother in an outrageous climax.
Although the song has an almost horrific feel to it, it is a very beatifull and interesting track. Obscure and dark, but packed with huge emotions. A definate masterpiece, unique in it's kind.

A fantastic pair of remixes. Sander Kleinenberg takes an already polished tune and draws it out into a nice long chilled version which mixes really comfortably, and the stabbing synth that replaces the guitar fits the tune perfectly. And then, on the flip, where you would usually expect a lesser tune, is a beautifully dark and moody remix of Lupus - not that you would expect much else when Jimmy Van M and Cass & Slide are working together.

What a cool piece of wax. Sander's remix is incredible and C&S/Van M's mix is wild, wacky deep and out of this world... one of the most creative remixes I've ever heard.
