I have this and first German pressing in vg to vg+ media condition
If i had to get rid of one of them, it would be german one.
I saw some people complaining they got noisy vinyl. Mine plays completely silent
Wider sound stage then German 1st, on the other hand you won't really get that analog warmth
All in all its well worth the money, great pressing - Just got my copy today from Amazon Aust, Nice clean sound, no distortion love it, on the plus side 180g vinyl , and Bernie Groundman part of the team, I use a 1970's Luxman PD-288 turntable, speakers Wharfedale 400. I also have a 1973 Japan copy which is also exhalent. If you like Pink Floyd, David Gilmour Live at Pompeii on vinyl a MUST buy, 10 out of 10.
- Very noisy vinyl. On the entire first side there is a loud crack in the right channel. In the left channel, the noise is quieter, but still noisy.
- Noisy vinyl. Otherwise sounds decent but also held back - like it has more “guts” to give. I would love to hear one of these early pressings others talk about.
- The sound is very good, it's a pretty well done remaster....... and then can come THE BIG "BUT": if you've never listened to this record on vinyl before and don't stick to pressings from 40-50 years ago, this is your record. Absolutly. Good price, good buy. I've got this version of it: https://www.discogs.com/release/1055038-Pink-Floyd-The-Dark-Side-Of-The-Moon This old pressing is just one step fuller, more dinamic and more musical, which makes it sound PERFECT & BEAUTIFUL. So it's not a waste of money to buy this record, but if you're not satisfied with the "real good", then look for an really older one pressing. True: they charge a price for that... of course, you have to keep in mind that everyone has different equipment, pickups,, phono, cartridge's, speakers, etc.
- I still have my 50 years old copy, sounds much better, crispier and cleaner than this "remaster"
Don't know why those remasterers need to twinkle the sound controls and tamper with them giving a poor result. The girls voices in the choruses are sent way to the background, mostly on 'Time' and 'Us and Them', the track split are in the wrong time mark, 'Money' should run 10 seconds longer, and no need to separate 'Speak to me' from 'Breathe'.
It sounds as if it was recorded from the 90s CD.
Nice packaging, posters and all, though the cover material stuck to the shinkwrap rendering it useless. - If you think this pressing is good you've never heard The Dark Side of the Moon. So compressed and lifeless.
- Edited 3 months agoThis one is noisy. So noisy, specially on Time and The Great gig in the Sky. Side 2 sounds slightly better.
- So...
Either I got really unlucky or this is a case of Quality control checks on one disc out of every 500 and a pretty massive pressing run.
Slightly Off-Centre A and B sides, dull thumpy sounding master, hardly any air at the top end and loads of surface noises after two/three good wet cleans. Inner grrove distortion/sibilance is what made me return my copy.
I think my dad's old copy (2nd UK pressing) probably still sounds way better than that and it's seen decades of neglect.
It's not their best album but it sort of hovers in an indescribably beautiful way and when you hear a shit pressing it really shines a light on the dull 'rhythm and blues Jam band' bollocks and detracts from the incredible presentation of the sublime mixdown.
Absolute Pish. Might attempt a replacement. Might not?
