Notes
From sleeve: "Hardcore has once again astounded the House nation with it´s diversity, no longer is a Rave track a selection of obscure noises from an ancient analog keyboard, the modern era Rave tune is now more likely to contain a multiplicity of elements such as Soul, Techno and Rap from diverse musical cultures. All the tracks on this album have some of the elements; ruff cut up beats, severe bass lines, uplifting vocals, piano breaks, dark sounds (sometimes samples from horror films). The end result is music that has a power and intensity that elevates the mind."
Track 6: Artist is listed as Metalheads (Rufige Cru), it is also listed as the "Rufige Cru Mix" on the disc & inside cover, it is the original mix.
Track 7: Title listed as SOS (Unreleased Baby D Mix) on back and disc and simply "SOS" on inlay credits. Samples "Come And Feel My Energy" from "Let Me Be Your Fantasy (Acen In Wonderland)".
Track 10: Artist is listed as "Darkman (DJ SS)"
Track 13: Artist listed as "Jungle Pirate" on the disc & "Jungle Pirates" on the covers. Track has no mix name listed.

Reviews
- Got this CD, as purchased here not so long ago. All the tracks featured are from late '92 and the beginning of '93, just as the dark side was starting to evolve and the majority of the producers were starting to move away from the "uplifting" era of '92.
Hard to believe this CD is pushing 30! (At time of comment) - Not a great compilation to be honest, “The Dark Side,” yet there’s a lot of happier hardcore & some 92 dross on it as well. Don’t be seduced by the title or artwork.
As for the crack heads trying to sell a CD for £50 + over twice the top price. You can get most of these tracks elsewhere for a fraction of the price. - Edited 20 years agoThe definitive album of 1993. Showcases not only Hardcore sound of the day, but the birth of Jungle. These tracks are excellently compiled and were the true sound of the day as heard in dodgy East London nightclubs and the pirate radio stations in the same area, such as 'Da K wid da K' Kool FM. If you're looking for a collectors item from this important era of UK urban electronic musical history, get 'dis!
