I had learned about "Valley of the Moomins" in the sea of youtube so I was happy to find this record out in the wild. But I had no idea that the flipside "Car Crash" is an Amen juggernaut. Absolutely stunning.

Car Crash, now that is one funky ass 'Amen' tear up. The vibe is electric on that track. The Double Bass riff swells with intricate Amens, resulting in a hypnotic groove of real quality. The A side is a hypnotic trip, with nice apaches patterns, soft and floaty pads and keys, skippy layered percussion, all merging into a blissful symphony of melancholy textures.

Class from Seba as usual both tunes are deep
So it seems Valley Of The Moomins is Seba & Lotek as S.Soderman is credited as producer as well.

The A side is one of my fav Good Looking tunes of all time. Stunning. Seba must be from another planet(or Sweden).

Anyone who grew up in Northern Europe in the last decades of the 20th century will probably have been subjected to the Moomins: White and soft Scandinavian “trolls” that lived in their very own Moomin Valley from which they set forth to appear in various books and cartoons.

Seemingly inspired by this the A side is a collaboration between Seba and Lo-Tek wich can best be described as something like a frozen flower in full bloom. The track is driven by a warm chord melody and an Apache break which then builds up to a more rolling beat layered with icy strings. Unbelievably deep this track stands as a testament to musical genius.

The AA side is Seba alone indulging in a deep fusion of jazz and a crisp as autumn air Amen break. Perhaps not as stunning as the A side but it is still a superb track.

Also the strange unintelligble vocal used throughout Valley Of The Moomins is infact a vocal by Seba's sister that he found in his archives while making the track.
Swedish no doubt. Can anyone translate it?

An outstanding release from Seba - one of his best in my opinion.

Valley of the Moomins has almost meditative qualities - just whack the volume up and lie back....The haunting strings and atmospheres are a delight, and the subtle increase in pitch of the apache break as the tune progresses, only to drop back down is inspired.

Car Crash is equally impressive - classical strings for the bass and melody line, with a tearing amen over the top. Genius.

Both tunes equally full of emotion and real depth - an essential part of D&B history.
