Reviews
- Given the influence of Miles Davis, and his influence in turn on the development of jazz, these early Okeh and Epic recordings by Jamal are pretty essential for any serious collection given their influence in turn on early Miles. It was Jamal's conception of space and early modal work that inspired Miles all through his formative period through the very early '60s. Billy Boy is a revelation to anyone who enjoys Red Garland's subsequent rendition on Milestones.
