Reviews
Show All 16 Reviews- Tried the EU version and, sadly, got two duds (for all the reasons mentioned previously by others), both of which were swiftly returned to the seller. Got my hands on a US pressing and, well, it's a perfect pressing of this perfect album! It seems to me, and I could be wrong, that more people are having luck with the latter than with the former.
- Just received from Amazon and it is perfect sounding and not a scratch. Also the production on this album is gorgeous and Leonard Cohen’s voice is gravely and deep in all the right ways. Highly recommended.
- My copy sounds absolutely superb. Not a scratch, not a hiss; just pure, perfect Cohen. The perfect format for a masterpiece.
- My copy (purchased in 2016) sounds amazing on my very fancy stereo and I'm extremely picky about pressing quality.
- I just got my copy yesterday from amazon and after reading the reviews I was worried but after a quick wipe with a dust cloth it was perfect. Now the jacket was jacked up because they put it in an over sized box without a record shipping box. First time that's happened for me from amazon
- Unfortunately, my newly purchased record makes a scratching sound at the start of A2, A3, and A4. Towards the end of A5 and B9 there is a very pronounced scratch-like noise for about 6 revolutions. I will have it replaced, hope for more luck with the next copy. Pity, because the songs, their poetry, and delivery are mesmerising...thank you Leonard.
- Edited 4 years agoSadly I have to report that my American pressing by Sony/Columbia is really despicable quality, which is a shame as the music and recording are tremendous. There is really loud non-fill scratching throughout the first track on both sides, and distortion on peaks on the whole record, suggesting a worn out stamper. Because I had heard someone else's copy play perfectly through the first side, I bought another one but whilst this one is mostly ok there is still horrible scratching through the last track on side B. I expect much better quality control from such a big corporation as Sony/Columbia: up your game people as this is rubbish! RUBBISH!
