Reviews
- Edited one year agoThis my favourite Depeche Mode album, not saying it is their best album but it is the one that resonates the most for me. Lots of memories of the end of high school years for me.
Therefore I have bought the US Rhino pressing twice. The first was terrible with tons of crackle and pops, made it unlistenable, even after multiple wet cleanings. Ended up buying another Rhino press as I thought I just got a dud as most reviews are favourable. It was better but still too much noise and pops. Put up with it for years, but never really played it due to not enjoying the pressing.
I just bite the bullet and got this pressing and it is wonderful. No wet cleaning yet, just a swipe with the dust brush. No pops or clicks, dead silent background. The sound quality is very good, lots of punchy tight bass, nice treble and great stereo imaging. Highly recommend pressing. Going to be playing this much loved album way more. - Edited one year agoTruly a wonderful pressing. The clarity and separation are off the charts. No clicks or pops. And the sleeve/artwork is beautiful, complete with the embossing and spot UV coating on the logo and photograph. I added a poly inner and leave the pre-printed paper inner just for the artwork, but that's the only consideration. A bargain at retail price for a very well done reissue of a synth-pop classic.
- An incredible pressing! Crisp, lush, full of detail. Sonically a pleasure to listen to. Depeche’s records can only be truly appreciated on Vinyl! Wonderful experience.
- One of my favorite bands for more than 30 years :) I like these 2016 Depeche Mode reissues under the Legacy label.
Great album, great sound - assertive, detailed. The stage is wide, the balance is even. The outer envelope is made perfectly - the quality of printing and paper is at a height. The inner envelope also very high quality. The disc is flat and heavy. The mass is quiet, I didn't hear any clicks. In general, the cover, disc and content are at a height of 5 out of 5. I recommend.
P.S. My reviews will be the same for the rest of the Depeche Mode albums reissued under the Legacy label in 2016.

[[AT-LP140]+[AT-VM95SP]+[PJ-Phono Box S 2 Ultra] - Always sceptical about new reissues but these DM vinyl Reissues are sublime. They sound almost reference material.
- This is a really great recording. Very clean and detailed. I only heard some of the nuances of Dave Gahan's vocals on this recording. I am sure you will be satisfied, especially given the low price (in 2021).
- Nice release, very good stereo separation and balanced sound, although the bass could be a tip intenser. What I really love is the packaging. They've done a great job there. The pictures (front, back, but also on inner sleeve) are glossy, which gives a nice look and feel. Quality product!
- Pure quality. Wasn't really expecting too much from this recent Sony repress, knew that the sound quality would be good as it's essentially the old Mute remaster but the sleeve reproduction is absolutely terrific. Embossed and glossy. A+
- Absolutely fantastic quality. Depeche Mode are the sort of band that are made to be blasted on the best sound system and this sounds gorgeous on LP. Not to mention the record is incredible! Lovely gatefold package and high quality cover. Cannot complain, up there with Achtung Baby (2018 remaster) in terms of quality.
