Reviews
- I highly recommend this pressing over an original or that awful new remix. Most originals I have seen have pressing flaws. On the remix they messed with the drums on One Slip, and it ruins the song. This one is quiet and sounds excellent.
- What can I say nice quiet vinyl flat very dynamic recording.
Better the first pressing ?
I'd say yes main reason, it has been pressed on better vinyl + master engineering is noicably superior!
I flicked my original for the replacement cost a solid improvement and investment 101. - Edited one year agoA fantastic flat pressing and no noise. I love this album but not as a PF album...more like a really good classic rock album from the 80s. Fav song for me is On the Turning Away. I am not very upset that this is cut from a digital file as everything other than bass and drums is recorded in 80s lousy digital anyway...actually its probably better than Pro Tools sound...so never mind. Still a really really amazing album and worth every penny to own.
- This is a great pressing. Sounds fantastic. It only took me 34 years to really get into this album (and I saw them in 1988).Also, it's going cheap on Amazon, now they have the remix to sell for top dollar.
- Slightly confusing as to wether this was first recorded to 24 track analogue then overdubs added digitally or vice versa. Perhaps lineage is ADA. Good sound though
- Excellent pressing! Very quiet, full dynamics and no ruined by today's loud compression, even on new vinyl. I always ask people to check their rig. Yes, i sound like a broken record but it's so essential on the playback. Even on new and old pressings, the difference in huge when checking a few things on your set-up.
Great job on the vinyl packaging, remastering and lacquering. All those 2016 Pink Floyd reissues sound spectacular (I also own DSOTM) - Just received this yesterday - anyone else have a slight "bump" sound that occurs at least half way thru the very first track? Also, some songs sound a little muddy on my humble system. By comparison, The Cars reissue of "Heartbeat City" sounds amazing - received both on the same order.
