A Pure Piece a Cake - Edited 8 months agoThis release most likely has been released in a green and blue cover. Mine is a blue typical IST014 mushroom cover. I vaguely remember I've seen more blue covered copies, besides the green (I worked years in second hand hardcore record shop from 2004), but i'm not 100% sure because I didn't buy my copy at release in 1995. Someone could have swapped records with covers but I can't find a similar blue cover at the other IST releases. Can't find this information at the release notes. Probably the blue is a colour misprint, and green the second.
The green could even be a kind repress and the blue the first and (kind a) original. I could be the other way around and the blue is a 1996 repress - this option is somewhere embedded in my memory (as I bought hardcore from 1996).
If you have a blue IST014 cover please reply that you have! And what year you bought it! - People who buy more copies of the same rare record to make money or to make something more expensive to buy are egoistical, greedy losers.
- paid £55 for this before 2006 was gutted when this and zenith flowers of intelligence were repressed .cost me over £100 for the 2 of them. was wise enough to buy 2 represses of each in 2006. looking like my £8 investment in each repress was a wise investment :-)

- Edited 7 years agoWar Dancer is a hypnotic killer, punctuated by the laments of tortured souls in purgatory. Its long drum 'n bass intro builds up toward a meaty piece: a marching, subterranean kick from hell that complements the by-now throbbing atmosphere. At the 6:10 mark, an additional, pounding kickdrum is unleashed like thunderous slaps on the cheeks of a misbehaved child, finally releasing all that pent-up rage. Peak track, this, though it could as easily be a set opener, considering the patient set up of sounds. All things considered, it probably works best as a bridging track between two sections of a mix.
The other tracks? The Hunter is a dated hardcore effort of the breed that later became hardstyle/jumpstyle, whilst First Wave is a hard techno banger that does not lack cojones, but also does not have the class of War Dancer -- far from it. - Edited 9 years agoWhen you first discover Electronic Music it appeals to you or not, i always say to somebody ”You get it, or you don’t get it”. From there we all have to start out somewhere to develop and define our ultimate taste in it. Mine started in the middle of the 90-ties(The peak of the Hardcore Wave), a friend let me hear a mixtape with Hardcore Music on it. My first thoughts: i didn’t really know what to think of it. It sounded hard and extreme but i got drawn to it. I borrowed a CD and really didn’t dare to play it out loud at my parents house because i thought they would think i was crazy playing this weird Music. Around 1999 a lot of Hardcore producers copied the most popular track of the week, i got bored with it and that year i went to my first techno rave. Today techno is in my DNA. I always get warm feelings looking back at that time of hardcore raves but it’s something of the past. My best Hardcore record ever is this: Manga Corps. I still put it on sometimes for old time sake. Never say Hardcore is brainless pounding because this record has all the elements of a great hardcore record: A proper intelligent melodic builder and a dancefloor slaugter. Guillaume and Manu have created this masterpiece, both also have their roots in Techno and Drum & bass . The hunter is a distorted hypno builder that lifts you up and gets his way with you however it pleases. First Wave is a bit more trancy, the break in the middle is one of the best out there. The track reminds me a bit of Lunatic Asylums – The Meltdown and Renegade Legion’s - Dark Forces. If you like more of this check Guillaume Leroux other aliases Lunatic Asylum, Dr. Macabre and French Connection. Manu also has a techno alias as The Driver. Merci Guillaume & Manu.
