- Edited 17 years agoA bit of an old rarity this one ;)
Essentially a collection of early 90's remixes, this CD features a wide range of styles from funk/dub and house to trance and flirtations with hard techno. A fine selection indeed.
The excellent Art of Trance remix of the Velocity track 'Lust' has rightly been included on the Platipus 'Artist Remix Collection' (there is no higher accolade IMO) and is one of the standout tracks herein. There is also a wicked Vapourspace remix of LSG's 'Fragile' which simultaneously mellows the original whilst making it dancefloor accessible, very clever indeed. The Mindscape track '2-3-break' must be heard to be believed, it could easily be a dub plate from the On-U sound guys.
For me the stunning DJ Spooky rework of the Jo Bogaert classic trance/house classic 'Water' is the jewel of the collection and makes this album a must-have for the serious trance freak (unless you have it elsewhere). And, finally, there is a very fine track called 'White Island' by Magnit that is drenched in Ibiza cool without sounding like every other bland Ibizan euphoric trance anthem.
Recommended for those who prefer their music 'out of the box'.
