- I dunno? it's been such a weird period (no weird pun intended) since 1989 and the Berlin Wall....... Forget the drugs at this point in 'time' !!!! We were all fucked up .... Whether Free Parties OR Free 'house' pubs...1992 really pissed off a lot people.... Except BORIS in 2021...prancing around like a tit! (With Nail and I= Intended reality)...
CHURCH OF WHAT?
We served our slog!
Now you upper 'class twits' get 'your clogs on' and dance the shit out of 'brickshit' deal?
I'm fed up of music being politicized!Taz Peace ;))) - Edited 5 years agoThis record and it's follow up are among the best that Rephlex has to offer. They are sharp, precise knives designed to peel the skin off your face like an over-irrigated grape in front of a conveniently placed mirror for your edification at the hands of a demented musical cartel enforcer. And let's face it, who doesn't enjoy a bit of a slap and torture on a lazy afternoon followed by a nice hot acid bath in a plastic rainwater barrel? This is seriously good gear, far better than the later mindless wank spelunked out of the overflowing IDM drop pit which has terminally infected this label in a Quixotic quest to freak itself out while taking a dump in the bushes. These recordings are an artifact from another time before we became swamped by irrelevant wannabe Detroit poseurs pulling a Mills stumbling incoherently toward their latest snoretastic excursion to enrich their career in an environmentally friendly manner recycling the same old tired bollocks. These works are the musical equivalent of a good horror movie lovingly crafted by some nutter glued to an Emu sampler distracted from their mission only when battling an overflowing ash tray. You'll have a hell of a time finding anything quite like this. Make no mistake, these records are strangely timeless and a whole lot better than anything shat out of the back passage of some Cornwall hippies busy defacing the London underground to sucker people into buying what amounts to a bunch of unfinished stems. These are nothing like that. These are the real deal. These are Industrial Techno.
- church of pain is unique . it is not pleasant not beautiful nothing is good but so powerful. it is not consensual . it s awful but there is a true who emerge from this track . i really like it . a beautiful awful . the other tracks are really good but not like church of pain because church of pain is an ugly beauty it is rare . conceptual pure straight and radical . a gem of unpleasant techno spirit
- Edited 7 years agoI always found tracks like Church Of Pain as being a producers idea of how can I be as fuckin annoying as possible & see if the label actually goes for it.
Kobal is killer, German is OK for....er intelligent Gabba I suppose & 4J is a pretty cool deep rolling Detroit type techno & is a track that hasn't aged at all really....in fact 4J is dope as hell. - Edited 7 years agoIf you are into your Industrial Techno... ?
Rusty, blunt edged sounds?
Then head for Church Of Pain... !
But make sure you have had a tetanus jab, otherwise you will end up in this Church(?)...
Where no one is here to help you as they couldn't care less about themselves..
Sorry.???????
Deranged music...
Its like your brain has got trapped inside collapsable razor wire...
Dirty infectious, weird and beautifully dark music!...
I personally am bored of the ever so fluffy BS... Haha..
Come people, open up them wounds!
Today is still yesteryear! - Edited 7 years agoThis 12" is all about Kobal. Wonderful track. Not fussed about the rest. It's worth it for Kobal alone.
- "Kobal" is the only good track; "4J" is inoffensive (if not very inspired). The rest of them are rusty, outdated things.
- Edited 19 years agoThis was a record that was always played in our flat at college after a session to scare girls. Listening to "church of pain" all the way through is an achievement, two minutes of drone and just when you think it can't get any more difficult, the anvil dropped of a high building percussion starts. The rest of the ep is fairly fluffy ambience, but church of pain is like a harder version of Sote's electric deaf.
