This 2xLP Inna De Yard release called "Soul of Jamaica" is a wonderful new album from many of the true greats of reggae music! This is not a compilation of older music, nor does it involve Earl "Chinna" Smith this time around sadly, for those who were confused about this. It does feature many of the people involved with those original "Chinna" recordings, however, and is clearly inspired by those albums. Kiddus I, The Viceroys, Cedric Myton, etc. are present and many young and upcoming artists as well. Kush Mcanuff, Var, Derajah etc. These are new recordings as of 2017 of both new and old songs performed by the current "Inna De Yard" group. And man are they ever having a renaissance period, this music is beyond classic and completely essential listening, as is it's follow up album simply titled Inna De Yard: Do not miss either if you are a fan of reggae music new and old, these are amazing historic sessions as far as I'm concerned! Easily in my top albums of all time...

Imho "Inna De Yard" is not a band or musician but a reference to the series of productions with the title "Inna De Yard" by Earl "Chinna" Smith at his studio Chinna's Yard. I think, all these releases are various artists compilations.

If you don’t have this or haven’t heard it pick it up, it’s not just an average re work album some of the best and important artists in Reggae giving really good soulful performances and re visiting some of their greatest songs with a renewed passion and sound. Recorded up in the hills at Kiddus I studio this recaptures some of the magic we know these artists all have.
